- Description
- Wall mounted horizontal rectangular square-headed tablet framing an alabaster inscription the whole on a dark brown marble surround of conforming shape. Lettering in deeply incised brown Roman capitals. Elaborate decorated border of carved florrettes and various motifs. Above the inscription tablet is a pieta with a crown of thorns and two crossed nails carved in low relief. On either side of this carving, mounted on metallic shields are the badges of the services, the Navy on the left and that of the Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry on the right. Between the words "and" and "proud" in the inscription is a metal crown.
