Description
The whole church is dedicated to the memory of Dietrich Bonhoeffer, a prominent German theologian and church leader of the 1930s and 1940s and famously martyred in the last days of WWII in revenge for his participation in the German resistance against the Nazi regime. The area to the side of the church nave has been used as a side chapel for small-scale services and contains a handmade altar created by prisoners of war at the Norton camp, along with a tryptich altarpiece by Klingst, who was a prisoner there. However, its main use is as a library, looked after by the Dietrich Bonhoeffer Centre London (DBCL).
