- Description
- Perspex-covered rectangular mural segment on a sepia background, with the first line of the inscription flanked on each side by a red poppy. The upper section commemorates all those from the London Borough of Lewisham who gave their lives at home and overseas in the service of their country in unspecified wars/conflicts, and also commemorates the effects of the World War 2 air raids on the Borough. (The lower section of the memorial makes reference to three non-war/conflict-related major incidents in the Borough in which multiple deaths occurred). No casualties' names are included on the memorial. (N.B. This memorial hangs beside another that lists local Victoria Cross recipients and other "Local Civilian Heroes" of WW2 - see our memorial reference 12133).
