- History
- 2001: Names are difficult to read. 1998: vandalised with spray painted initials IRA. 1997, November: ALTHOUGH THE ROYAL NORTHERN HOSPITAL WAS CLOSED IN 1992 AND DEMOLISHED IN 1997, THE DEVELOPERS TOOK A VERY SYMPATHETIC ATTITUDE TO LOCAL REQUESTS FOR THE MEMORIAL TO BE PRESERVED. DEVELOPMENT PLANS INCORPORATE THE ARCHWAY INTO A ONE ACRE MEMORIAL PARK AND NEWS CUTTINGS CONFIRM THAT IT HAS NOT BEEN DEMOLISHED.(See separate record for Royal Northern Gardens).
