Description
In the Crypt, Nelson Chamber south aisle, a colossal sculpted marble statue of a general with a sword and a scroll. The statue represents a man with long chin whiskers, his head turned slightly to the left, wearing a frock coat with badge, sash and belt, knee-length boots and a cloak tied with tasselled rope cord and falling over his left arm. His left hand rests on a sword, his right hand holds a scroll or parchment and rests on his hip and behind at his feet is a section of a cannon. The statue stands on a rough stone plinth on a moulded marble base.
