Description
In the crypt a sculpted marble wall monument with a medallion portrait of a Field Marshal, in an architectural surround. The medallion, in white marble, represents a man with a moustache, facing right, wearing a tunic with leaf-embroidered collar and epaulettes. The surround, of blue-grey striated marble, has a shallow triangular pediment with three acroteria on top and enclosing a small circular shield-of-arms and inscribed scrolls. Flanking the portrait are set back fluted pilasters and, at the corners, rosettes and scrolling foliage, a band of ribbon-tied laurel below the portrait. In the lower part is the memorial inscription in white marble and an apron with a cross and various ornamentation.
