SURMOUNTS PEDESTAL WHICH HAS BRONZE PLAQUES ON IT 6 OCLOCK FACE: CORPS BADGE, BRONZE PLAQUE WITH INSCRIPTION 9 AND 3 OCLOCK FACE: RELIEF DEPICTION OF ACTION AT GRASPAN AND REPULSE OF CHINESE ATTACK ON PEKING LEGATION CARVED DOLPHINS ON EACH CORNER SYMBOLISE NAVAL SERVICE
