Description
BRONZE FIGURE, SUPPOSEDLY REPRESENTING ACHILLES (ACTUALLY COPY OF 'HORSE TAMERS' AT MONTE CAVALLO, ROME). CAST FROM TWELVE 24 POUND FRENCH CANNON CAPTURED AT THE DUKE'S BATTLES INCLUDING WATERLOO, IT STANDS ON A TWO-TIERED PEDESTAL: THE NAKED (APART RFOM A FIG LEAF) FIGURE HOLDS A SWORD IN HIS RIGHT AND A SHIELD IN HIS LEFT HAND AND STANDS BESIDE HIS ARMOUR.
