Description
Plaque of light marble set on a black marble pattress 29 inches high x 35½ inches wide. It has a pedimented top with egg and dart carving on the lower edge. The Regimental badge of the Durham Light Infantry is carved in half relief in the pediment with the words “In loving memory of” on either side. The lettering is in Roman upper case with the quotation in sans serif upper case capitals.

In Loving Memory of/Lance-Cpl. John Noble Lacey,/19th Battn. Durham Light Infantry,/only and dearly-loved son of John and Margaret Lacey,/of Wolsingham,/who fell in action in France, April 17th 1918,/aged 22 years./“Greater love hath no man than this,/that a man lay down his life for his friends.”
