We launched the pilot phase of the IWM Institute with an event at IWM London in June 2018. The event took the form of a panel discussion exploring the theme of public understanding of war and conflict.
The debate was chaired by Mark Urban, Diplomatic Editor for BBC Newsnight, and featured a four-strong panel of IWM Associates who used their insights from their fields of art and culture, policy, academia and the NGO sector to contribute to the discussion:
Dr Lina Khatib - Head of the Middle East and North Africa Programme at Chatham House.
Neil Bartlett - an author and theatre director.
Professor Rana Mitter - Professor of the History and Politics of Modern China at University of Oxford.
Jonathan Cohen - Executive Director of Conciliation Resources, an NGO working to prevent violence and promote peaceful societies.
