‘People are hungry, people are sick, people are losing hope.’ – Murad Subay

Murad Subay is a street artist from Yemen who uses art to reflect the reality of the conflict around him.

His work Devoured (2019) was commissioned by IWM and is on display at IWM North as part of Yemen: Inside a Crisis

Murad was unable to visit the UK to install the piece himself - so he collaborated with Manchester-based street artist Jay Sharples.

Watch the video to find out more about Murad's approach to art, conflict in Yemen and his working partnership with Jay.

The Yemen: Inside a Crisis season is on at IWM North until January 2020.
