Paul – The British Army 1974 to 1986
Every Tuesday and Wednesday 10am to 3pm
From the age of 16, Paul joined The British Army. He talks to families about his army equipment and conflicts he has been involved in during his 12 years of service.

Norma – Evacuated during the Second World War
Every Wednesday 10am to 1pm
Norma is celebrating her 20th year volunteering at IWM North. She was three years old when she was evacuated to Clitheroe. Norma loves talking to visitors about her childhood wartime experience.

Ray – Talk on Tom Boardman, a Far East prisoner of war
Every Wednesday 1am to 3pm and Sunday 10am to 4pm
Discover the fascinating story of Tom Boardman, who was in the army during the Second World War and taken prisoner by the Japanese after the fall of Singapore in 1942. This talk is given by our volunteer Ray who knew Tom through his interest and research into prisoners of war in the Far East.

The IWM North building is hard to miss – the aluminium-clad building with jutting angles has become an iconic part of the Manchester skyline since it was built in 2002. Join David to discover the story behind the design and why the building might feel strange to you.
