Climb aboard our Vulcan
Sit behind the controls of our iconic Avro Vulcan, XJ824.
Join one of our expert IWM guides in a unique opportunity to gain access to the cockpit of this awe-inspiring aircraft.
The most famous of the "V bombers", the Vulcan was the cornerstone of Britain's airborne nuclear deterrent during the Cold War.
Immerse yourself in the conditions experienced by the flight crews responsible for operating one of the most famous bomber aircraft in RAF history.
Avro Vulcan XJ824
The experience will begin with a 20-minute talk outside the aircraft exploring the history of our Vulcan XJ824 which acted as one of the main delivery agents of Britain's independent nuclear deterrent. Learn how the type was used in the Black Buck raid of the Falklands Campaign of 1982.
You will then spend 15 minutes in the cockpit where you’ll be shown the controls and crew positions, with our IWM guide explaining the role of each member of the crew. There will also be an opportunity to take photographs inside.
