Windrush and Beyond: Stories in Collage with Kandace Chimbiri
Saturday 21 September to Sunday 22 September | Drop in, 10:30am to 4pm
Clore Learning Centre
Join Kandace Chimbiri, author of The Story of the Windrush and Britain’s Black Airmen, for a collage workshop exploring the lives of Britain’s African and Caribbean servicemen and women.
Learn about Sam King, MBE. A Jamaican RAF serviceman who returned to England aboard the HMT Empire Windrush in 1948. Follow his story from Jamaica to London, from the RAF to the Mayor of Southwark.
As part of 2024’s Art History Festival, we are exploring and celebrating the theme of 'Global to Local'.
Hear Kandace give a talk and reading, then take part in a collage-making activity.
Activities are suitable for children 5+ years. For families attending with additional younger children, step-free accessibility information can be found here.
