Historic Duxford

Duxford played a central role in some of the most dramatic days of the 20th century – serving as a base for many of the Spitfire and Hurricane pilots who fought in the Battle of Britain.
It was a Sector Station for 12 Group, which covered the Midlands and East Anglia. This meant that personnel based there directed Duxford and other surrounding airfields’ squadrons into battle.
During the battle, Duxford had two main jobs - to protect the Midlands and help the fighters of 11 Group when needed. 11 Group was responsible for the south-east of England, including London, and bore the brunt of the fighting in the summer of 1940.
The historic airfield, hangars and buildings, which are still at Duxford today, will provide the perfect backdrop for your photographs.
