11 November 2018
At 11am on the 11 November 2018, the nation will stand in silence marking a poignant moment for the end of the First World War Centenary. At 11.02am the silence will be broken.
Working alongside Manchester-based music charity Brighter Sound, IWM North will mark 100 years of Remembrance and the final commemorations of the First World War Centenary with a sonic performance from young musicians in Manchester.
Taking inspiration from the current Lest We Forget exhibition, IWM’s collections and contemporary sounds of our society, Breaking the Silence will be an experimental and poignant reminder of the legacy of the First World War and how it still shapes the world we live in today.
