REEL 1 Background in Perth and London, GB, 1925-1940: family; education and singing with Westminster Choir School. Aspects of period as schoolchild and civilian in London, GB, 1939-1943: evacuation from London, 1939-1940; joining Mercers School; employment, 1942; experiences of bombing. Recollections of enlistment and training as wireless operator with RAF in GB, 1943-1944: background to volunteering as aircrew; usefulness of training with Air Training Corps (ATC); induction at No 1 Aircrew Reception Centre, Lord's Cricket Ground, St Johns Wood, London; accommodation and messing; opinion of training at RAF Bridgnorth; Morse Code training; move to No 2 Radio School, RAF at RAF Yatesbury for radio training, 3/1944; fault finding exercises; radio procedure; training in air; issue of flying kit. REEL 2 Continues: back squadding and embarkation leave.
