REEL 1 Background in Brighton, GB, 1923-1941: family; education; employment; membership of Air Training Corps; lack of interest in aviation. Aspects of enlistment and training with RAF in GB, 1942: background to enlistment, 1942; selection tests; basic training at No 1 Aircrew Reception Centre, St John's Wood, London; training at No 5 Initial Training Wing, RAF at Torquay; attending Grading School and familiarisation flight at RAF Syerston. Aspects of period as aircraftman with Royal Air Force in Canada, 1943-1944: voyage aboard HMT Queen Mary from GB to Canada; unhappiness with flying training at No 37 Service Flying Training School, RCAF at RCAF Calgary; remustering as navigator; training as navigator with No 2 Air Observer School, RCAF at RCAF Edmonton; story of initial 'first' navigator training flight; principles of navigation used. REEL 2 Continues: journey from Edmonton to RCAF Moncton, 12/1942; leave in New York, United States of America, 1944; return to GB, 1944.
