Recollections of period as gunner and officer with Royal Artillery in GB, 1939-1943: reasons for enlistment in Territorial Army; joining 98th Field Regt, Royal Artillery as gunner; outbreak of Second World War, 3/9/1939; transfer to 143rd Field Regt, Royal Artillery at Maidstone, 1939-1940; uniform worn; move of unit to Iceland; selection for officer training with No 122 Officer Cadet Training Unit, Royal Artillery at Larkhill, GB, 1940; defence duties on Salisbury Plain, summer 1940; types of artillery trained on ranges at Larkhill; naming of British artillery pieces; degree of knowledge of Dunkirk Evacuation.
