REEL 1 Background in Kilmarnock and Brighton, GB, 1926-1943: family; education. Aspects of enlistment and training with Royal Corps of Signals in GB, 1943-1944: reasons for volunteering; training at Maryhill Barracks, Glasgow; basic training; signals training at Catterick Camp, including Morse Code; transmitting and receiving messages. Aspects of period as signaller with 4th Special Wireless Group, Royal Corps of Signals in Egham, GB, 1944: training on High Speed Morse Code; accommodation in Egham; security measures prior to invasion of Normandy, France, 6/6/1944. REEL 2 Continues: leave in Brighton; formation of No 25 Mobile Wireless Section, 11/1944. Recollections of operations as NCO with No 25 Mobile Wireless Section, Royal Corps of Signals in India, Burma and Malaya, 2/1945-8/1947: voyage from GB to India, 1/1945; arrival in Bombay, India; nature of train journey across India from Bombay to Dimapur, India; road journey from Dimapur to Imphal, India; setting up in camp at Imphal, India awaiting arrival of vehicles.
