REEL 1 Recollections of operations commanding of A Coy, 3rd Bn Parachute Regt in Cyprus, 3/1956-10/1956 and during Operation Musketeer at Suez, Egypt, 11/1956: reasons for initial deployment to Cyprus; reaction to being left behind to take staff college exam; joining battalion, 3/1956; preference for operating in rural areas and Nicosia; fire during Operation Lucky Alphonse, 7/6/1956-23/6/1956; escaping from fire and casualties; reaction to orders to return to GB for parachute training for Operation Musketeer; parachute training in GB and return to Cyprus; opinion of Operation Sparrowhawk in Kyrenia Mountains; arrival of French logistical support. REEL 2 Continues: exercises in Cyprus in preparation for Operation Musketeer; entering sealed camp; air and naval support available for Operation Muskeeteer; emplanement exercise and religious service; information obtained from final reconnaissance photographs; flight from Cyprus; run in and landing on drop zone on El Gamil Airfield, Egypt, 5/11/1956; paratrooper who landed in palm tree; under fire from Egyptian Army SU-100 Self-Propelled Gun; treatment of wounded; arrival of French Douglas Dakota on airfield; attempts to arrange ceasefire with Egyptian forces.
