REEL 1 Recollections of operations as officer with 3rd Bn Parachute Regt, 3rd Commando Bde during Falklands War, 4/1982-6/1942: background to posting to battalion, 4/1982; acquaintance with battalion personnel; reaction to prospect of active service; embarking on board SS Canberra, 4/1982; training on board SS Canberra; obtaining news from British Broadcasting Corporation World Service; training period on Ascension Island; attitude during voyage from Ascension Island to South Atlantic; reaction to sinkings of AGR Belgrano and HMS Sheffield, 5/1982; preparations for landings at San Carlos Water; cross-decking to HMS Intrepid; nature of landings at San Carlos Water; Argentine shooting down of British helicopters; build up in bridgehead.
