Aspects of period as driver with No 285 Coy, Royal Army Service Corps in GB, India and Palestine, 1940: character of training at Bulford Camp, 2/1940; driving military vehicles; voyage aboard HMT Queen Mary GB to India, 6/1940; memories of coping with heat and flies; impressions of Bombay, India; reception in Cape Town, South Africa; state of accommodation in Palestine; negotiating Seven Sisters in a lorry. Recollections of operations as driver with Long Range Desert Group in North Africa, 1940-1943: background to volunteering for unit; move to Egypt.
