Content description

REEL 1 Aspects of period as schoolchild in Liverpool, GB, 1941: German Air Force bombing of family home, 5/1941; evacuation to St Asaph. Aspects of enlistment and training with Royal Army Medical Corps in GB, 1951: reasons for enlistment in Royal Army Medical Corps; training as nurse at Cambridge Military Hospital, Aldershot Garrison; handling case of leprosy; training as hygiene assistant at Army School of Hygiene, Ash Vale; work as hygiene assistant in Aldershot Garrison and Chester. Recollections of period as hygiene assistant with Royal Army Medical Corps in Japan and South Korea, 1952-1953: lack of knowledge of Korean War; duties during voyage from GB to Japan; arrival at Kure, Japan; problems getting used to Japanese customs in Kure; initial impressions of South Korea at Pusan; visit to Hiroshima, Japan.
