Recollections of period as schoolchild and civilian in City of London, GB, 1939-1945: brief evacuation to Aylesbury, 9/1939; second evacuation to Land's End, 1940; disruption to his education; awareness of pre-war political movements; memories of German Air Force attack, 7/9/1940; intense German Air Force bombing of City of London, 29/12/1940; effect on traffic of bomb at Bank, City of London, 1/1941; effect of narrow escape during German Air Force raid, 10/5/1941-11/5/1941; question of how German Air Force raid changed course of his life; aftermath of German Air Force raid, 29/12/1940; public morale during German Air Force bombing campaign; contact with traders in Petticoat Lane.
