Aspects of period as nurse with Queen Alexandra's Imperial Nursing Service at Netley Military Hospital in GB, 9/1939-12/1939: mobilisation; memories of declaration of Second World War, 3/9/1939; duties. Recollections of period as nurse aboard HMHS Atlantis in Norway and Mediterranean, 1939-1942: joining hospital ship, 12/1939; uniform and kit; duties evacuating sick from Egypt, Malta and Gibraltar; voyages to Norway; evacuation of wounded French and Polish Army troops and German prisoners of war from Norway; proximity to naval actions during Norwegian Campaign; description of hospital ship; medical personnel on board; duties; move to Mediterranean; types of wounds dealt with.
