REEL 1 Aspects of period as schoolchild in Immingham, GB, 1939-1945: degree of German Air Force activity over Immingham; Lord Louis Mountbatten's visit to town; incident when German Air Force Heinkel He 111 bomber aircraft was brought down by anti-aircraft fire; membership of Air Training Corps. Aspects of enlistment and training with Coldstream Guards in GB, 1945-1947: enlistment, 9/1945; training at Caterham Regimental Depot and Pirbright Training Depot; ceremonial duties in Windsor Castle; joining 2nd Bn Coldstream Guards at Pirbright, 12/1946; public and strike duties in London, 1947. Recollections of operations as guardsman with 2nd Bn Coldstream Guards 2nd Guards Bde, Malaya Command in Federation of Malaya, 10/1948-9/1950: voyage from GB to Federation of Malaya; in transit in Nee Soon Camp, Singapore; move to Tapah Road Camp in Perak; duties as cook and butcher; meat supplies and killing pigs for meat. REEL 2 Continues: sources of meat; presence of Chinese civilians in camp; other sources of food; dawn swoops on villages searching for Malayan National Liberation Army insurgent sympathisers; degree of danger; state of health.
