Aspects of period as civilian in Kingston upon Hull, GB, 1940-1941: German Air Force bomb which fell on Hardwick Street; German Air Force bombing of city, 5/1941; work in railway marshalling yards; effects of bombing and attitude towards German Air Force aircrews; use of church hall in Cottingham to get away from bombing; belief that GB would win the Second World War. Recollections of enlistment and training with Royal Air Force in GB, United States of America and Canada, 1941-1943: enlistment in Royal Air Force, 11/1941; processing of recruits at No 1 Aircrew Reception Centre, St John's Wood, London, 11/1941; flying training at RAF Desford, 1942; flying training in United States of America.
