REEL 1 Recollections of operations commanding 809 Naval Air Sqdn, Fleet Air Arm during Falklands War, 4/1982-6/1982: background to taking over role of forming squadron at HMS Heron, Royal Naval Air Station Yeovilton; conversion of SS Atlantic Conveyor to transport Hawker Siddeley Sea Harrier FRS1s; training for deck landings; expectations of war; preparations and working up on voyage southwards to Ascension Island; use of Hawker Siddeley Sea Harrier FRS1 to provide cover for SS Atlantic Conveyor; division of squadron between HMS Invincible and HMS Hermes; transfer of squadron to aircraft carriers and question of whether to use landing lights whilst landing on HMS Invincible.
