REEL 1 Aspects of enlistment and officer cadet training with Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst in GB, 1969-1971: joining British Army, 1969; period with Royal Military Academy, 1969-1971; posting to Germany. Aspects of operations as officer with 3rd Bn Royal Anglian Regt, 20th Armoured Bde in Northern Ireland, 1972: role as platoon commander in Belfast; account of being shot in back by sniper including nature of wound and reaction to being hit; medical treatment recieved at Royal Victoria Hospital, Belfast; physical condition following operation; change of attitude after being shot; rejoining battalion after medical treatment in GB; opinion of Northern Irish medical staff; receiving good wishes from civilians in Northern Ireland. Aspects of operations as officer with 3rd Bn Royal Anglian Regt, 20th Armoured Bde in Northern Ireland, 1975: second tour; attitude towards Provisional Irish Republican Army (PIRA); role in maintaining good community relations; opinion of Royal Ulster Constabulary.
