REEL 1 Aspects of period as NCO with Cheshire Regt in GB, 1939-1941: pre-war service; rejoining British Army, 6/1939; promotion and duties in GB, 6/1939-7/1941. Recollections of period as NCO with 4th Bn Straits Settlements Volunteer Forces, Straits Settlements Volunteer Force Bde in Malaya, 8/1941-2/1942: voyage aboard HMT Capetown Castle from GB to Singapore; character of unit personnel; posting to Saint Patrick's School at Geylang, Singapore; questions of how unit fared under attack and dispersal of local forces with British Army units; opinion of shortfall of military campaign; surrender, 15/2/1942.
