Recollections of period as officer with Field Security Police, Corps of Military Police in GB, 1939-1941: reaction to declaration of Second World War, 3/9/1939; call-up to Field Security Police, Corps of Military Police, 1939; appointment as intelligence officer to Guards Brigade, 5/1940; work as interpreter in internment camps, 1940. Recollections of period as liaison officer with 23rd Liaison Headquarters attached to Princess Irene Bde, Royal Netherlands Army in GB and North West Europe, 1941-1945: posting to unit; arranging for brigade to cross to Normandy, France, 6/8/1944; problems with mosquitoes in Normandy, France, 8/1944; liberation of Brussels, Belgium, 2/9/1944; Dutch troops' attitude towards Germans; German artillery bombardment of Beringen Bridge, Belgium, 9/1944; hunger amongst Dutch civilians in The Hague, Netherlands, 5/1945; German V1 Flying Bomb attack on Antwerp, Belgium, autumn 1944; visit to painter/forger Henricus 'Han' van Meegeren; arrest of Reichs Commissioner of the Netherlands Arthur Seyss-Inquart, 5/1945.
