British officer served with 1st Bn King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry in Federation of Malaya, 1949-1951; served as as Senior Ammunition Technical Officer and commanded Explosive Ordnance and Disposal Team, Royal Army Ordnance Corps in Northern Ireland, 1969-1972

REEL 1 Recollections of operations as Senior Ammunition Technical Officer and commanding Explosive Ordnance and Disposal Team, Royal Army Ordnance Corps in Northern Ireland, 1969-1972: background to involvement in bomb disposal; posting as technical staff officer to Northern Ireland, 1969; dealing with bombing campaign against hotels; story of how cat started to play with unexploded bomb during disposal process; effect of dealing with unexploded bombs; anti-handling devices used by bombers; monitoring technical progress of bombmakers; death of Captain David Stewardson dealing with anti-handling device at Castle Robin, 9/9/1971; Irish Republican Army (IRA) campaign against bomb disposal personnel. REEL 2 Continues: dealing with bomb at Lisburn Police Station; development of robots to handle unexploded bombs; foreign origins of bombers' material; story of how bombers got hold of West German detonators; origins of bombers' raw material in GB; importance of being able to trace exact provenance of detonators; need to provide public information about combating incendiaries; use of Semtex; forensic work on arms cache discovered in 1970; occasions when he came face to face with bombers. REEL 3 Continues: capture of prolific bomber; proposal for military frontier to intercept Irish Republican Army (IRA) supplies; attitude towards insurgents; advice he gave about kind of weapons to be used in discussions prior to anticipated threat of 'Bloody Sunday', 30/1/1972; question of those targeted during 'Bloody Sunday', 30/1/1972; occasion when sharpshooter was used in Northern Ireland; security consultancy work undertaken on leaving army.
