Aspects of operations as officer aboard submarine HMS Umpire, 3rd Submarine Flotilla in GB coastal waters and North Sea, 3/1941-7/1941 including sinking after collision off Blackeney in North Sea, 19/7/1941: standing by submarine at Chatham, 4/1941; collision with armed trawler Peter Hendriks and sinking off Blackeney, 19/7/1941; escape from conning tower on seabed; role of Chief Engine Room Artificer George Killen in rescue of crew.
