REEL 1 Background in Vienna, Austria, 1924-1938: family; education. Recollections of period as schoolchild in Vienna, Austria, 1938-1942: prior recollection of sight of political street disturbances, 1932; Austrian attitude towards St Germain and GB; attitudes towards Germans and Germany; effect on goods in shops after Anschluss, 3/1938; sight of Adolf Hitler and his manner of speaking; his reaction to Nazis foreign policy; lack of interest in reading 'Mein Kampf'; reaction to declaration of Second World War, 3/9/1939; propaganda portrayal of Prime Minister Winston Churchill; political opinions of his teachers. REEL 2 Continues: arrest of his schoolfellows for distributing British Broadcast Corporation news, 9/1941; political jokes made; reputations of individuals in Nazi hierarchy; his personal knowledge of fate of Jews; degree of knowledge of events in concentration camps; absorption of his sports club into Hitler Youth and attitude to it's activities.
