REEL 1 Aspects of period as musician in GB, 1939-1940: work as trumpeter with 'The Gypsy Band'; move with family to Channel Islands; outbreak of Second World War, 3/9/1939; offer to join Dorothy Holbrook's Harmony Hussars in Coventry; joining husband serving with Royal Ordnance Corps at Tidworth Camp. Recollections of period as musician with Ivy Benson and her All Girls Band with Entertainments National Service Association (ENSA) in GB and North West Europe, 1940-1945: how Ivy Benson advertised for Beale to join band; wearing uniform for performances; living conditions whilst travelling around camps in GB; songs and music played; work for Entertainments National Service Association (ENSA); devastation of Heligoland; effects of American chewing gum on carpets. REEL 2 Continues: performances during air raids; story of how her handbag was stolen during air raid; attitude towards air raids; move to Germany; meeting Wing Commander King nicknamed 'The Bishop' in Celle, Germany; arrangements to visit to Bergen-Belsen Concentration Camp; reaction to meeting German nurse outside camp; conditions inside Bergen-Belsen Concentration Camp; story of how Wing Commander King ordered German civilians in Celle to visit Bergen-Belsen Concentration Camp; conditions for Dutch civilians in The Hague, Netherlands.
