REEL 1 Background in Eltham, GB, 1920-1936: family; education. Aspects of enlistment and training as boy seaman at HMS Ganges, Shotley, GB, 1936-1938: enlistment, 1936; character of initial training; discipline; climbing the mast. Memories of declaration of Second World War aboard HMS Foxhound, 3/9/1939. Recollections of operations as seaman aboard HMS Havock, 2nd Destroyer Flotilla in Norway and Mediterranean, 4/1940-2/1942: living conditions on board; start of First Battle of Narvik, 10/4/1940; memories of battle; running around of HMS Effingham; move to Mediterranean, 5/1940. REEL 2 Continues: supply runs to Tobruk, Libya, 1941; bombardment of Italian positions at Bardia, Libya; sight of sinking of HMS Barham, 25/11/1941. Aspects of operations as seaman aboard HMS Havock, 22nd Destroyer Flotilla in Mediterranean, 2/1942-4/1942: running aground off Kelibia,Tunisia, 6/4/1942.
