Aspects of period as war correspondent with Reuters News Agency in GB and Algiers, French Algeria, 1943: background to joining Reuters News Agency; operations of Reuters News Agency; securing post of science correspondent; obtaining accreditation to British Eighth Army; joining office in Algiers. REEL 2 Continues: obtaining flight with United States Army Air Force generals to Foggia, Italy, 1943. Aspects of period as war correspondent with Reuters News Agency in Italy, 1943-1944: problems of getting copy through to GB; role of conducting officers; method of operating as war correspondent; handling story of General Bernard Montgomery's farewell to British Eighth Army; transfer over to United States Fifth Army's area of operations; reporting on Allied bombing of Monte Cassino, 15/2/1944; covering eruption of Mount Vesuvius.
