British officer, joined in 1964 after being a cadet at school. Trained at Dartmouth Naval College. Discussion of changes in training and hierarchy at Dartmouth. Served on the Rothesay out of Portsmouth, patrol of the West Indies, involved in Anguilla landings of 1969. 1976 based in Gibraltar. Served in Fearless and at Dartmouth Naval College as tutor. Joined Invincible 1982 as communications officer and served in Falkland Islands war. Relations with the press. Reaction to the sinking of the Belgrano.
