Discussion of military situation, particularly on Eastern Front 11/1941
The past 5 months of the German campaign in the East might rightly be called the greatest achievement in military history: despite Soviet strength and determination, bad weather and the vast extent of the front, the world's largest army has been completely defeated, inspiring inconceivable admiration of German troops and their allies in all those who have followed the campaign. There are two consequences of the Soviet defeat and the German occupation of most of European Russia. Firstly, England's last continental ally has been subdued and, secondly, Europe is now an economic unity, independent of external blockade attempts, as Soviet grain can satisfy the needs of the whole continent. The total defeat of the whole of Russia is now a distinct possibility.
