REEL 1 Aspects of operations as officer with 1/5th Bn Leicestershire Regt, 148th (Territorial) Infantry Bde in Norway, 1940: prior recollection of joining Artist Rifles, Rifle Brigade (Prince Consort's Own), 1937; move to Norway with advance party; role during campaign. Aspects of period as internee in Smedsbo Internment Camp, Falun, Sweden, 1940: crossing Swedish border; internment in camp; repatriation to GB via Finland; war attitudes in Sweden and Finland; giving his parole in Sweden; his opinion of Swedes. Recollections of operations as officer with 1st Bn Leicestershire Regt, 15th Indian Infantry Bde, 9th Indian Infantry Div in Malaya, 1941-1942: building defences at Sungei Patanti; plan to capture Siamese ports; degree of jungle warfare training; Japanese method of moving along coast; lack of preparations for jungle warfare.
