REEL 1 Apects of period as NCO with 1st Bn King's Royal Rifle Corps in India, 1929-1936: background to joining Territorial Army as bandboy prior to enlistment in King's Royal Rifle Corps, 1929; posting to Lucknow, India, 1929: voyage from GB to India, 1929; reception on arrival; daily routine and lifestyle; contact with Indian troops and comparison with later service with African troops; posting to Palestine, 1936. Recollections of NCO with 2nd Bn Gold Coast Regt, Royal West African Frontier Force in Gold Coast, 1938-1940: background to secondment to Royal West African Frontier Force, 1938; voyage from GB to Gold Coast; reception at Headquarters, Gold Coast Regt at Kumasi; truck journey to join battalion at Tamale; accommodation for British NCOs. REEL 2 Continues: organisation of British NCOs and role of African NCOs; recruitment policy; roles of African and British NCOs in training African recruits; English language and educational training for African troops.
