Aspects of volunteering for International Bdes and journey to Spain via France, 5/1937: reaction of family to his decision to join International Bdes; volunteering at Communist Party of Great Britain Headquarters, King Street, London, 1/5/1937; question of degree of knowledge of war; crossing to France; guiding volunteers through France; arrangements in Paris, France; receiving instructions from Charlotte Haldane; with group of American and Canadian volunteers in Oyannax, France; reactions of local population to volunteers; question of organisation and financing of volunteers; meeting guide at Perpignan; crossing Pyrenees Mountains into Spain, 27/5/1937; move to Figueras, Spain.
