Content description

REEL 1 Background in Gibraltar and GB, 1912-1931: family; education at Wellington School. Aspects of period as cadet with Royal Military Academy at Woolwich, GB, 1931-1932: character of discipline and nature of training course; role of senior term NCOs; reasons for choosing Royal Tank Corps. Aspects of period of training with Royal Tank Corps in GB, 1932-1934: character of Royal Tank Corps; family reaction to joining unit; impressions on arrival at Bovington Camp, 1932; quality of instructors and officers. REEL 2 Continues: concern for status of corps in army; quality of recruits; memories of General Percy Hobart; character of training at Bovington Camp; tactics and tank drills; opinion of types of tanks trained on; attending engineering course at Military College of Science at Woolwich; gunnery course at Lulworth Camp; ammunition shortage and use of simulated firing.
