Using colours as loud as the bandsmen's music, Davies brings us scenes of life from 1980s Belfast. The city itself is an active participant in the tumult with its buildings bearing slogans and flags. Through the chaos, Davies emphasises the humanity of the people caught in conflict.
Originally from Hampshire, Anthony Davies moved to Belfast in 1984 where he taught printmaking at the University of Ulster for ten years. He has made many works about life in Northern Ireland.
