Presented by the peoples of the BAHAMAS
Money subscribed by the Bahamas has bought a trailer canteen for Britain's war front. As the dusk falls, it gets ready for active service
if the sirens should go.
The sirens wail their warning to a sleeping city, and Air Raid Precaution workers and firemen get ready to fight the blitz. People run to
the shelters. The bombs drop and the anti-aircraft guns reply.
In the cold light of dawn the enemy bombers depart. The A.R.P. workers and firemen are tired and thirsty and many people have lost their
homes in the night's blitz. They are glad to see the Bahamas trailer canteen arrive. A little group clusters around the canteen, enjoying
hot drinks and food after a terrible night.
Thank you, Bahamas!
Other war gifts from Bahamas include the purchase of fighter aircraft, hospital supplies and comforts, lime juice and honey, subscriptions
to British Red Cross and St. John Fund, Air Raid Relief, King George's Fund for Sailors, St. Dunstan's, Aid for Russia, Malta Relief, and
many War Charities.
