But the 'invincible' Luftwaffe was completely routed by the indomitable heroism and the proud expertise of the fighter pilots of the British Empire. This Battle of Britain took place when the British Empire found itself isolated, confronting all the combined forces of the Axis. The tide of war turned once this battle was won. Now, in 1942, four-fifths of the human race combined and united against the aggressor nations. We bent ourselves to the heroism of the RAF which, for 84 days of desperate air combat, saved the cause of liberty for the world! In a single day 2,375 German aeroplanes were shot down.
