Physical description
Large size Chinese military camouflage sunhat with wide brim, in colours green/brown/grey, made from a mix of polyester and cotton, there is a length of green cord from under the brim of the hat attached to the hat band around the crown. There is a label sewn on the inside of the crown.
History note
Donor statement - "Chinese Military had hospital, 40 Bed Ebola Holding Unit, which was opened before the British military arrived in Sierra Leone. Chinese had built the hospital in 2011/12 in Freetown but it had never really opened. The Chinese were convinced to open it to help respond to Ebola. Chinese military sent personnel to set up the Ebola Unit. Due to communication difficulties and not being very well keyed in they need a bit of help so KSLP went over several times until a member of KSLP was able to charm one of the female Chinese Officers and they gave the KSLP a series of gifts including a Chinese military camouflage sunhat, packs of herbal mosquito repellent in silk sachet, black baseball cap with People's Liberation Army's insignia red star."
