Shoulder patch to various types of Garrison and Heavy Artillery, being a horizontal dark blue rectangle on which on which a single red strip with a central upward point.
Worn by Australian Garrison Artillery 1921-1925, Coast Batteries Australian Garrison Artillery 1925-1927, Heavy Batteries Australian Garrison Artillery 1927-1936 and Heavy Artillery Royal Australian Artillery (Militia) 1936-1941. In 1941 there was a major re-organization of all coast artillery units and thereafter this patch was worn by Heavy Artillery Fixed Defences 1941-1943 and Coast Artillery 1943-1945.
Note that the same design of patch, carried vertically, was worn 1925-1943, by Medium Artillery Brigades Australian Garrison Artillery 1925-1936, Medium Brigades Royal Australian Artillery (Militia) 1936-1941 and Medium Regiments Royal Australian Artillery (Militia) 1941-1942.
The patch was also worn by 2 Australian Medium Regiment Royal Australian Artillery 1942-1943 while serving as Army Troops with 2 Australian Army. (See Glyde 28/609).
