Description

Physical description

Dress made of pale blue cloth with motif of allied flags, Churchill, aeroplanes, tanks and guns in red, black, blue and yellow. The dress is short-sleeved and has a collar. There are four red buttons (very faded) on the top of the dress and a belt made of red ribbon.

History note

This dress was worn by Jenny Hayes, who was known as "The Versatile Commedienne". She worked as a commedienne during the 1930's and 1940's. She was married to Leslie Richards (real name Richard Leslie Hayes) who was a pianist with the Entertainments National Service Association (ENSA).
